“Discover the secret of lasting friendships and true love through this film,” smiles producer ‘Dil' Raju talking about his latest movie, Oh…My Friend while supervising the re-recording session at Prasad Labs being conducted by music director Rahul Raj.The music director was feeding the background score from the keyboard into the scene enacted by lead pair Siddharth and Shruthi Haasan playing on the monitor. Hansika and Navdeep play the other pair in this feel good love story that harps on friendship. Venu Sriram makes his directorial debut. “Venu has been with us in the directorial department right from the Arya days. He wrote a refreshingly fresh theme on friendship and true love. Siddharth and Shruti are singers and musicians. Hansika is cast as a business woman and Navdeep is a software professional.
They hail from middle class families and the characters emanate from life around. Every one can connect with the characters and the incidents. The target audiences are the youth and the family,” says Raju as Venkateswara Reddi is popularly known. He has a word of praise for his actors and he is confident of the appreciation that they will receive by viewers and critics as well. Most of the shoot took place in various locations of Hyderabad. “We shot a portion of the movie in Kerala's scenic locations in and around Alleppy. Of the six songs, one song is to be filmed ; we are planning to shoot that on the Pune-Mumbai highway on all the four lead actors. Like Venu, Rahul Raj is a talented guy. A popular name in Malayalam films, he had won the Kerala State Best Music Director award. He brings in a new sound that is both melodic as well as trendy. We are planning to release the audio by October 15.”
Of the 13 films he had made so far, Raju had introduced 8 new directors—a record of sorts. “I am happy that they are all doing well and Venu will also go places. It may not be out of place to mention that I will be launching a real multi-starrer movie with Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu titled Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu in November said a beaming Raju. It will be directed by Srikanth Addala, another one of his finds. But right now his focus is on completing and promoting Oh… My Friend “It falls in the genre of Bommarillu and Mr. Perfect and can be thoroughly enjoyed by all age groups,” says Raju in a parting move. The film hits the marquee in November.
