Siddharth did his schooling in Chennai, Delhi und Mumbai. He completed his MBA and started in films as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam, for the critically acclaimed Tamil film Kannathil Muthamittal.

His first role was in Boys as "Munna", directed by S. Shankar. His mentor Mani Ratnam then offered him a role in the Tamil film Aayitha Ezhuthu. His first solo lead role was in the Telugu film Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana opposite Trisha Krishnan, which was commercially successful. Finally he became world famous with the Hindi film Rang de Basanti.

After several romantic movies in Telugu, a Hindi short film for Vishal Bharadwaj (Blood Brothers) and another Hindi film called Striker, he re-entry after six long years into Tamil cinema and plays the lead role in a film called 180! He shot for this movie both in Telugu and Tamil simultanously.
