Interview with Siddharth on 'Oh My Friend'

Lover boy Siddharth’s latest film ‘Oh My Friend’ was recently released and is said to be receiving the success talk from all over. The film was produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations banner and directed by a debutant Venu Sriram. To share his happiness on the positive response of the film Siddharth had a small chit chat with the media. Here are some excerpts:

I, first of all wanted to thank my friend Dil Raju on this occasion. He is always confident and maintains the clarity and quality while making any film. I along with Navdeep visited about 5 theaters to see the audience’s response and all theaters were running with houseful collections. The distributors also expressed their happiness with the box-office results. We just have to wait and see the results of 2nd week also. We are happy to note that our expectations are not misinterpreted. Youth is enjoying the most and families too are coming to theaters. We also found some students who bunked the college only to watch this film.
In general I can’t act the same scene again which I’ve already performed because I simply don’t like it. If ‘Bommarillu’ will be remade I’ll do it in a different manner. But after the success of ‘Bommarillu’, while I was waiting to do similar film, I got the opportunity to do this film with which my wish got fulfilled.

Venu Sriram waited for 2 long years to do this film in Dil Raju and my combination.  He displayed on the screen exactly what he visualized in his mind.  Many keep asking me how I’m still able to be so young like a student. I consider it as one of the best compliments. I’m very happy to note the audience commenting Chandu in ‘Oh My Friend’ is younger than Siddhu in ‘Bommarillu’. The last 20 minutes of the film gave life to the film.

We all have worked hard as a team. Raju and I felt that Venu only should write dialogues for this film. I enjoyed working with Venu. He is a bold person. I hope he will direct yet another film with me. Vijay Chakravarthy’s cinematography is the highlight. I like ‘Sri Chaitanya College’ and ‘Ma Daddy’ songs the most.

My co-stars Navdeep, Shruti and Hansika gave their best performances. Navdeep is very friendly and down-to-earth person. This year appears to be lucky for Hansika since she hit the hattrick with this film.

After Mahesh Babu’s ‘Pokiri’, my ‘Bommarillu’ got released and became super duper hit film. Now since 'Oh My Friend' also released after ‘Dookudu’, I predicted it to be a big hit. I’m happy that my sentiment has come true. ‘Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana’ is the turning point of my life. I wish to do many more films in lines with that film.

The shooting of ‘Midnight Children’ under Deepa Mehta’s direction has got completed.  Salman Rushdie, who is the script writer for this film called me and commented that I performed well. In Bollywood I’m presently doing a film for director David Dawan. I’ve signed a film for Bellamkonda Suresh under Nandini Reddy’s direction. In 2012 four of my films will be released in four languages. I will certainly do any film with anyone provided I get the opportunity.

Dil Raju is a good friend of mine. We are friendly with each other and at the same time we also fight. He is the man who gives me freedom to do anything for myself. I entered the film industry 10 years ago and I feel sad for missing this combination for so long. Henceforth I decided to do atleast one film a year in Dil Raju’s combination. Lastly I would like to make a good announcement. Just give me a month’s time I’ll let you know about it.
